Theodore Ethan Mansfield – #286

Theodore Ethan Mansfield was born in Kettering, Ohio, and moved to Jackson, Tennessee, only five months later. The family lived there until he was five. They then moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, and finally to Radnor township when Ted was starting the 6th grade.

At the suggestion of his cousin, Peter Marcellino, Ted joined Devon 50 in 2004, as soon as he got to Pennsylvania. Since that time, he has held various leadership positions including quartermaster, APL, PL, and Troop Guide. He is currently a brotherhood member of the OA. He has been top rookie salesman and top salesman three years in a row, setting a record troop high at just over $4,050 in one year. In the five years that he has sold wreathes, he has sold a total over $11,750 of greenery.

Ted will be a junior at Radnor High School in the fall. He is on the crew team three seasons per year at Radnor. Ted plays the clarinet in the Radnor High School Band. He also enjoys playing chess and video games.

For his eagle project, Ted painted the fellowship hall at the Wayne United Methodist Church, along with insulating the ceiling of the basement of the parsonage. The floors of the Parsonage are now much warmer and the beautification of the fellowship hall was completed just in time for the Easter Sunday breakfast.

Ted’s favorite trips include the annual ski trips, the backpacking trips, the mystery trip to Hershey Park, and Northern Tier. Ted spent over a week paddling around the waters of Quetico Park in Canada on the trip to Northern Tier. This summer, Ted will be going to Philmont with a group of twelve members of Devon 50.

Ted would like to thank all of those who encouraged and helped him with reaching Eagle Scout. He would especially like to thank his parents, scout leaders, and everyone who assisted with his Eagle Project.  He is proud to join the line of Eagle Scouts in Devon 50 and in his own family.
