Patrick George McGill – #278

Patrick was born in Chester, PA, on August 29th, 1991, he has one sister Katelyn and has lived with his parents in Devon for most of his life. Patrick started as a tiger cub in pack 111, where his father Don was the cub master. Then after receiving his arrow of light he moved to Devon 50 in January, 2003 where he was put into the Owl Patrol.

His favorite trips include the winter camping, where he received his blue beads, the ski and canoe trips and the whitewater rafting Hurricane trip.

Patrick is a Brotherhood Member of the Order of the Arrow, was Patrol Leader of Hawk Patrol in 2006-2007, served as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and is the current Order of the Arrow representative of the troop. Patrick has attended horseshoe for two weeks each summer leading up to 2006 where he began work as a C.I.T., then as an instructor in 2007.

In 2004 he received the Thomas Stilwell Award for enthusiasm in scouting events as well as the Future Leader Award. In 2005 he received the Silver Buckle, awarded to the scout who in the opinion of his fellow Scouts has above all others demonstrated the finest example of Scout Spirit, Oath and Law at Horseshoe scout camp. In the summer of 2007 he traveled to Philmont Scout Ranch and is continuing high adventure this summer when he will backpack the Adirondacks and travel to Northern Tier Canoe Base.

Patrick’s eagle project was carried out at the Cedar Hollow Preserve of the Open Land Conservancy. With the help of many Troop 50 scouts and friends from Conestoga Patrick built a new trail through a half mile of thick forest. The project also included clearing of non-native plants from the preserve as well as taking steps to help eliminate water runoff and trail erosion.

Currently a sophomore at Conestoga high school, he is a member of many performing groups including the orchestra, choirs, marching band, and the drama department. He is a member of the PSEAA State choir and also sings at Paoli Presbyterian Church. Currently studies voice and piano, and plans to further his education in music.

Patrick would like to that all of the Scoutmasters; the people that worked on his eagle project and his family for support along the trail to Eagle Scout.
