The Devon 50 Court of Honor was convened February 23, 2008
by Al Plambeck, Devon 50 Trustee and District Advancement Chairman

Charge given by J. B. Rettew, Devon  50 Trustee

Patrick Hayes – #276

Patrick “Pat” Hayes was born in Media, Pennsylvania on March 28, 1992. He was born in Riddle Hospital around 8:00. He was greeted at home in St. Davids by three older siblings. He has one half-sibling, and three step-siblings making a total of seven children in his very large family.

Pat joined Devon 50 in April, 2003, earned Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class that year, and Star the next. He earned Life in 2005, and Eagle in 2008. Pat completed his leadership requirements as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, and Quartermaster. Pat is also Order of the Arrow. Among his Scouting memories are the ski trips, his personal favorites. But nothing was every better than the High Adventure Trip 2006 when he climbed Mt. Washington, (thank you ASM Pioch). He looks forward to Philmont 2009!

Pat is a sophomore at Radnor High School. He enjoys playing soccer and rugby. In Pat’s free time, he enjoys playing music, especially the drums. This summer Pat will tour Europe with a compilation high school symphonic band for three weeks.

Pat’s Eagle Project consisted of packing 35 computers and a little over 7000 books to be shipped to an orphanage and The Amos Youth Centre in Kafue, Zambia. This shipment included other things as well as school supplies: clothing, sports uniforms, cleats, sports balls, and equipment. This project helped the African Education Program which was begun in 2003 at Radnor High School by friends of his sister, Megan, during their sophomore year. The treasurer of AEP.org, Dr. Marie-Odile Savarit, sponsored Pat in the project. Pat would like to thank Dr. Savarit for her capable assistance, his mother for her help collecting clothes for packing material, and Scoutmaster Rohrbeck for his supervision in getting the Eagle Project completed. And especially to the many volunteers, including all the Scouts who helped on the project.
