Mitchell Legrand Conery V– #275

Mitchell was born on August 18, 1992 in Mt. Kisco, New York. (Go Yankees!)  At the age of five, his family relocated to Devon, Pennsylvania due to a new job in Philadelphia.   He attended Devon Elementary school and Treddyfrin Easttown Middle school.  It was at these two schools where he first discovered a high interest of learning, and where he started his scouting career.  Mitchell started as a Tiger with Pack 111, with his mom as Tiger leader, and soon after, led by Cub Master Don McGill. Mitchell enjoyed many happy years with friends from the den and pack, including Will, Patrick, Alex D., and Dylan.  For the last two years as a cub, Mitchell bonded with his Den Chief, Nick Purdy, (who would go on to be instrumental in Mitchell’s Eagle project).  After receiving his Arrow of Light, he crossed over into Devon 50 BSA.

Some of his favorite trips with Devon 50 include the caving trip with Mr. DeStefano, the trip to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons, the Elk Mountain Ski trips, three mystery trips: Baltimore, Vermont Skiing and Hershey Park, and the Council Camporee where Mitchell was trip SPL and his group won the Orienteering Competition.  One of the highlights of Mitchell’s scouting career was earning the Ad Altare Dei religious medal, facilitated by Mr. DeLuccia and Mr. Monnier.  To this day, he has fond memories of that experience.

Mitchell earned his Eagle “boarded” in December, 2007.  His ambitious project (584 hours spent by all involved) was designing and building a 12’ by 20’ shed for the Great Valley Nature Center – a place where he had spent many fun outings with his family and Cubs.  The shed will store equipment and feed they need to care for the many animals.

Outside of scouts, Mitchell has participated in Chorus groups and five seasons of track and cross-country at Conestoga, where he is currently a Sophomore.  He also stays extremely focused on his academic pursuits and is looking forward studying pre-med or bio-engineering at college.

Mitchell wishes to thank Mom for her love and steadfast guidance; all of his Scouting friends, sister Karlyn, grandparents, Aunt Dee Dee, Bob Purdy, and the Lord – for all of their support and hard work.

Mitchell would also like to thank all the leaders – past and present – who provided him with 8 years of knowledge, camaraderie and fun.
