Jeffrey Peter LaRosa – #268
Jeff was born in Columbia Hospital in Washington, DC on March 15th, 1990. Jeff lived in Arlington, Virginia for two years and then moved to Berwyn with his parents and two sisters in 1992.
Jeff started as a Tiger Cub in Beaumont school, joined Cub Scout Pack 113 and rose through the ranks to become a Webelo Scout while at TE Middle School. Jeff has fond memories of his Cub Scout days, particularly competing in the Pinewood Derby, attending the annual trip to the Franklin Institute, and selling popcorn to help raise money.
Jeff and many of his close friends from Pack 113 joined Devon 50 in 2001. Jeff enjoyed all the activities the troop had to offer, particularly the annual ski trips to Elk Mountain, the white water rafting and canoe trips, and all the Mystery Trips. He consistently exceeded his quota in the annual wreath selling campaigns.
Jeff was also thankful for the opportunity to travel to Wyoming on the western trip and to upstate New York on the Adirondack trip. These are two of his favorite trips and the memories will last a lifetime. Many thanks to Mr. Coonley, Mr. Gavin, Mr. Ligon, Mr. Manning, and Mr. Scott for all their time spent on these exciting trips.
Jeff’s leadership positions included Den Chief to Pack 113, Troop Instructor, and Assistant Patrol Leader for the Eagle Patrol. It was rewarding to see Jeff grow from a young boy, where he learned from his own patrol leaders and older Scouts, to a young man, where he attained a position of influence himself.
Jeff’s Eagle Project consisted of installing water diversion features, such as check bars, on the steepest section of Mt. Misery Trail in Valley Forge Park to prevent further erosion on the trail. This adds to the enjoyment of those hiking on the trail by making it easier and safer.
Jeff is a junior at Conestoga High School where he has run both winter and spring track and has played on the junior varsity soccer team. Jeff also plays in the concert band and enjoys playing the guitar in his spare time.
Jeff is thankful for all the parents who have devoted many hours of their time to make Devon 50 the great troop it is today. He also wishes to thank his mother and father for their positive influence and his grandfather for encouraging him to become a fellow Eagle Scout.
