Tyler Badgley – #263

Tyler was born March 6, 1990 in Columbus, Ohio. He moved to California in 93, Illinois in 94, Missouri in 96, Virginia in 98, back to Ohio in 2001, and to Devon in 2003, where he lives with his parents and sister, Emilyn. Tyler earned his Arrow of Light in Midlothian Virginia, and joined Troop 800.

In Centerville, Ohio, he joined Troop 299, where he spent two years of his Boy Scout career, earning ranks from Tenderfoot to Star, and becoming troop Historian. He joined Devon 50, and in 2004 became Asst’ Patrol Leader of Owl. In 2005 he became Owl Patrol Leader and was elected to the Order of the Arrow.

Tyler is currently a sophomore at Conestoga High School. This year Tyler was selected to receive the Hugh O’Bryan Youth Leadership Award. He also participates in Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Chorale, Concert Choir, Science Olympiad, Peer Mediation, Key Club, and founded Destination Imagination at Conestoga. He has been selected as a counselor at Camp Virginia for this upcoming summer, a camp he has attended for the past six years.

In his free time, Tyler participates in numerous activities. He has been playing the drums since third grade, and started playing hockey before that. He has always been very active in his church. He currently serves as an assistant minister, usher,  acolyte, and communion assistant at St. Luke Lutheran Church.

Tyler’s Eagle project, at St. Luke’s, involved creating picnic tables, a volleyball court, a brick grill, cleaning a “gathering” area, laying mulch, and power washing and staining benches that had been damaged as the result of a fire which burnt down Fellowship Hall.

Tyler’s most memorable trips include the white water rafting trip, the Elk Mountain Ski trips, and his ordeal. He vividly remembers the spring canoe trip in 2004, where he went with a broken collarbone.

Tyler would like to thank his parents, scout leaders, and those who worked on his Eagle project, in helping him attain the rank of Eagle.
