Craig A. Mackie
Devon 50 Eagle Scout #240
Craig A. Mackie was born on August 3, 1982 in Natick, MA. He lived in Holliston, MA for two years before his family moved to Paoli, PA in the spring of 1984. He now lives with his dad, Jeff, and mom, Sandy. His older brother Jeffrey lives in Seattle, WA.
When he was in third grade at Hillside Elementary School, Craig joined Cub Scout Pack 112. In 1995, when he was in seventh grade, he became a member of Devon 50. He started his scouting career in the Eagle Patrol under patrol leader Sean McConnell. For the next three years, Craig attended Horseshoe Summer Camp, camping and hiking weekends, Gettysburg trips and Klondike Derbies. His most memorable trip was when he went to England for the National Jamboree in the summer of 1996.
From 1996 to 1998 Craig was a Den Chief for Pack 112. In 1998 he was elected to the Order of the Arrow and received the E.H. Richardson award for Outstanding Leadership. In the summer of that year he moved to the Wolf Patrol to serve as patrol leader. That year he participated in a Council First Aid meet and earned first place along with a team of scouts from other Devon 50 patrols.
Last summer Craig received the Brotherhood rank in Order of the Arrow and completed his Eagle Project. For his project, Craig cleared out an area in the woods near Paoli Presbyterian Church and built and installed benches to make the spot more appealing and to provide a place for rest and reflection.
Craig is currently a sophomore Honors student at Virginia Tech. He is a member of the marching band and participates actively in the Presbyterian youth program. He is majoring in computer science and math with a minor in French. When he graduates, Craig plans on a career in computer game programming.
